It is with profound sorrow that I have received the news of the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former Emir and Father Amir of the State of Qatar.

On behalf of myself and all those who cherish visionary leadership and international cooperation, I extend my deepest condolences to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Royal Family, the Government, and the people of the State of Qatar during this time of national mourning.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani will be remembered as one of the greatest architects of modern Qatar. During his leadership from 1995 to 2013, he transformed Qatar into a globally respected nation through remarkable economic growth, strategic development of its natural gas resources, visionary investments, and an influential foreign policy.

His leadership saw the establishment of Al Jazeera, the expansion of Qatar Airways into a world-class airline, the launch of Qatar National Vision 2030, and the country’s successful bid to host the historic 2022 FIFA World Cup. He also made history by voluntarily transferring power peacefully to his son in 2013, setting an example of stable leadership in the region.

His remarkable legacy of nation-building, diplomacy, and development will continue to inspire leaders around the world for generations to come.
May Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, shower him with His infinite mercy, and grant him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus. May He comfort the people of Qatar and grant them strength during this difficult time.
